Memorable Monday

This Memorial Day we went to my Uncle Rob & Aunt Brenda's to enjoy a relaxing day off. My cousins Hayden and Myra and I had a whole lot of fun playing with the popper toy they gave me for my birthday. It provided hours and hours of entertainment! We also spent some time outside (see above picture) and enjoyed the warm weather. It was a little windy, but still loads of fun.

On Sunday, I went to a friend's 2nd birthday party. We got to romp around at a tumbling place - there was a super cushy floor and lots of soft blocks that you can crawl and climb up on. I practiced my climbing skills and scaled a "hill". Don't fence me in, I say! Here are some pictures from the party.

Super Saturday

Today is the start of Memorial Day weekend, and what better way to kick it off than to spend part of my afternoon at the "Tot Lot" in Jamaica Plain? We met my friend, Seba (click here for his blog), and his parents Mr. Armand and Ms. Amy, and had a grand time. Seba and I had fun playing on the toys (I tried to eat the mulch) while the parental units enjoyed some good conversation. There were plenty of other kids there as well and I had fun playing with them, too.

Afterwards, we went to JP Licks for some ice cream. Mommy Cia got a HUGE ice cream sundae and I don't know how she finished it, but she did! Yum! I can't wait to get my hands on one of those sometime.

Here are some pictures from our time together. Click on our "slide" pictures to get a closer look...talk about static cling, baby!

Birthday Bliss

Today I officially turned 1 year old! Can you believe it? This is a turning point and worthy of some reflection of the past year. Here I am reflecting at the park the other day...

This time one year ago, I was laying in the NICU with a bunch of wires hooked up to me, monitoring my vitals. My Mommy Cia was knocked out, recouperating from surgery and Mommy Jenny was by her side all night. Good news came fast. Doctors determined that despite my tiny size (only 2 1bs, 12 ozs!) I was healthy and doing well. It turns out they watched me at the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks and then I got to go home.

Twelve months, come and gone like a flash - and now it seems like old hat. Those first three months went by like a blur. So many changes, such excitement. The next three months my personality started emerging. Then came the crawling and now the walking.

It's been a great year. Now, on to the next!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you new Mama's out there. You know who you are, so give yourselves a pat on the back and a kiss on the cheek. For those of you "seasoned" Mama's - a super Mother's Day to you, too -- look how great your little squirts are or have turned out!

If this is your first Mother's Day, then you know being a mommy is some seriously hard work! A card I read put it this way, "Holy Crap! It's hard!". And you know what? It is, but we wiggly-butts are worth it and you know it. The first breath, the first smile, the fist coo. The first crawl, step and tooth. All totally worth it.

Ok, enough waxing poetic. Let me tell you about yet another grand day. Today we headed over to Uncle Rob, Aunt Brenda and Cousins Hayden and Myra's house. They had a super feast for us. My Uncle Rob knows how to grill. Whoooo yeah! I was eatin' well today. Grilled steak and chicken. Yum! Plus, Aunt Brenda made some great side dishes to round it all out.

The weather was beautiful with clear skys and warm sunshine washing over us. Believe it or not, we didn't actually do any true "mothers & kids" poses today. They (namely my Mom's), who are of the takers of gazillions of pictures actually forgot to do some formal pic's today. I'm giving them a break, though. I think their heads are still spinning after throwing my birthday party yesterday.

Alas, we still have some great pictures from this special day. Check them out...

Birthday Bash

Next week is my birthday. But, just like me, my mommies couldn't wait to throw me a birthday party with all of my friends and family. A ton of people came over including a bunch of my daycare peeps, playgroup peeps, my Grandma Coca and Grandpa Bob, my Grandma Bertha and Aunt Lakia, and my Uncle Rob, Aunt Brenda and Cousins Hayden and Myra. Talk about a full-house party!

Thanks to everyone for helping me celebrate my very first birthday. I had fun seeing everyone and love gifts you gave me...so sweet of you! My day really was awesome - made so especially because you were there, and I can't imagine having a better time. After all, we got to wiggle and giggle and play, play, play. There was some good grub and Mommy Jenny made me a doggie cake. Grandma Coca says that at first she thought we'd be eating cake for days. But boy...was that cake good! So good that there's not much left at all!

There so much more to tell you and I could go on and on and on, but it's late now and Mommy Jenny is telling Mommy Cia to go to bed. Since Mommy Cia is my muse, I suppose this means I need to wrap it up (haha - what a pun). So, with that, I leave you now with some highlight pics from my party. I'll post some more over the next couple of days.
